General Notes:
From Pat Beatty My Great, Great, Grandfather (Woodhead) was a Yorkshire man and a publican. He had the Market Tavern, The Marqes of Grandby, and the Albion Hotels in Leeds. He died at the early age of 33 and left 33,000 pounds and property etc, to his widow. They had one son, my Great Grandpa Woodhead, I think his name was William Abraham Woodhead. He married Mary Elizabeth Ludgate and they had 11 children. Alfred died in infancy *My Great, Great, Grandma Woodhead married again, a Mr. Barstow, and they had one son. Besides the pubs, she had a rag warehouse, property in Becket St., Leeds, also a street in Roundhay and reputed the ground that Rowntrees Chocolate factory is built on in York. She died without making a will. Owing to her second marriage there was trouble between her sons, so all the money went into chancery for 99 years. The solicitor looking into it is Bill Dixon who was a friend of Great Aunt Maud and her solicitor too. I had a lawyer in Kamloops write to the law firm in Leeds and they replied that as far as they know there was no such will. Some family members believe that Great Aunt Maud got it all.
